About

About this guide

ohiovoterguide.org is an independent, nonpartisan explainer on how voting in Ohio works and how to research candidates and issues.

Who writes it

The pages are written and reviewed by the editors of ohiovoterguide.org. The site sells nothing, takes no money from campaigns and does not collect donations.

Not the earlier guide

A voter guide published by another organisation used this address in earlier years. That guide has ended. This site is new, has a different editor, is not affiliated with that organisation, and does not reproduce its content.

Not an official site

This is not a government website and it is not connected to any campaign, party, candidate or election office. For official dates, deadlines, ID rules, polling locations and your ballot, use the Ohio Secretary of State or your county board of elections.

Nonpartisan

We do not endorse, rate or rank candidates, parties or ballot issues. The pages explain how to find information and how voting works, and leave every choice to the voter.

The speech topics guide on each page

Weighing a ballot issue, hearing a candidate debate or asking a room to register all come down to arguments made out loud. So every guide page ends with the full English guide "persuasive speech topics" from persuasivespeechtopics.org: sixty claims to practise arguing, each with the objection listeners will raise. The topics are practice material; this site takes no side on them.

Corrections

Official election details change, so every page sends you to the Ohio Secretary of State for dates, deadlines and rules. If something here reads differently from the official source, the official source is right.
